Lighting that reacts to people

Railsens

Railsens detects persons along the track using radar technology and automatically adjusts Railpuck. In the absence of people, lighting dims to 3%. Upon detection of a person, the system switches to 100%. Railsens is modular and can easily be added to an existing Railpuck line. The sensor is designed for person detection and ignores small animals or background movement. The result is sensor-controlled work lighting that adapts to the task at hand: bright when needed, subdued when it is quiet.

Radar detection

Automatic dimming

Modular system

Railsens keeps lighting from shining unnecessarily  at full brightness. Using radar technology, the system detects if anyone is moving along the tracks. If someone enters the detection range of about 1.5 by 2 meters, the brightness goes up to 100%. If all is quiet, it automatically dims back down to 3%.

Once detected, the light remains at full brightness for 30 minutes. After that, it automatically dims. Thus, no need for manual intervention. The system does it all by itself.

Railsens is designed for person detection. Small animals or minor movement near the roadside verge will not be detected as work activity. Lighting goes up for human presence, not for rustling bushes.

Railsens connects to the same 36V system as Railpuck and can easily be incorporated into an existing line. Thus, railway lighting adapts to conditions as they arise.

The sensor can be incorporated directly into a new installation, or added to an existing Railpuck line at a later date. Whether it’s a short stand-alone setup or a longer route, the system remains modular in design.

Railsens simply engages where necessary. The lighting does the rest.

Railsens uses radar technology for person detection with a range of approximately 1.5 x 2.0 metres. Upon detection, the system increases the connected light level to 100%. If no detection is made, the lighting automatically dims to 3%. The default hold-up time is 30 minutes.

The sensor runs on 36V DC and has a power consumption of 1.2W.
It has an IP66/68 and IK10 rated housing and is suitable for use in temperatures ranging from -40°C to +70°C.

Railsens has been designed for use as part of the Railpuck system and can be connected directly to the same power supply line.
